Q.No.22: Which is more stable Ti+3 or V+3? Give reason plz.

Reasoning Question Series
Q.No.22: Which is more stable Ti+3 or V+3? Give reason plz.
Ans:
V3+ is [Ar] 4s0 3d2
1. V+3 is more stable due to 2 upaired of electron in 3d
and Ti+3 has one upair electron in 3d
2. V+3 does not act as oxidising agent so it does not reduce to cations with lower oxidation state
while Ti+3 act as reducing agent so it readily oxidies into Ti+4 ion
V+3 Is more stable than Ti+3 depending upon the oxidizing and reducing agent
Ti+3------------oxidise------------> Ti+4
While
V+3 --------------------> not goes to lower oxidation state cation mean v+4
