Reasoning Question series
Q: 5 Why Mecury is liquid at room temperature ??
Ans :
1.according to electrons sea model :
Metals are solid due to strong bonding of sharing electrons.
but when we see the configuration of mercury
Hg: [Kr] 4d10 4f14 5s2 5p6 5d10 6s2
its 6s2 is completely filled
mecury mercury bonding is very weak because its valance electrons are not easly shared or readily.
thats why mercury melts at room temperature
other than metals
