Q No : 11 why are called f bocl elements as inner transition elements??

Reasoning Question Series
Q No : 11
why are called f bocl elements as inner transition elements??
Ans :
The elements in which the valence electron enters in anti penultimate energy level i.e., (n - 2) f are known as f - block elements.
This name is because of the position of the valence electron is in the f - orbital.
Since the last electron enters into (n - 2)f - orbital which is inner to the penultimate shell (For d-block elements),
they are also called inner transition elements.
Hence, the general electronic configuration for these elements is
(n-2)f 1-14, (n-1)d0-1, ns2
Noted : 1.second last shell is penultimate & third last is anti penultimate. ....LAST here ref to VALENCE.
2.enterence the valance electron inot the third last valance shall
third last inner of the 2nd last valance shell
thats why these are also called inner transition
3.4f and 5f are included for filling electrons which are anti penultimate shell
