Q No:14 HCl is Stronger acid than H2S04 . Justify

Reasoning Question Series
Q No:14 HCl is Stronger acid than H2S04 . Justify
Ans :
1. A strong acid is one that completely ionizes (dissociates) in a solution
HCl is ionized completely while H2SO4 is ionized partially.
HCl(g) + H2O(l) --> H3O+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
H2SO4(l) + H2O(l) --> H3O+(aq) + HSO4-(aq)
2. HCl can donated Proton easily than H2SO4
3. pka value of HCl= −6.3
pka value of H2SO4 =−3
books reference are for pka value difference
Kotrly & Sucha (Handbook of Chemical Equilibria in Analytical Chemistry) list sulfuric acid pKa1 as -3,
Hulanicki (Reactions of acids and bases in analytical chemistry) lists pKa of HCl as -4.
that is why HCl is bitter stronger than H2SO4
